American Idol, Season finale May 27, 2010

So I was wrong, not a shocker, but I’m all good with it. Lee DeWyze wins American Idol. He worked hard and came a LONG way, from the ooh too shy paint salesman to the rocker in front of millions of viewers. Ok, so not millions in the live audience, but across all the TV’s there are millions of A.I. viewers.

The show had tons of cool stuff going on though, I was especially impressed. If you missed it, I will give you a quick breakdown of some of the highlights.

Paula Abdul came back to see Simon Caldwell off, as that was his last show on American Idol to be on his American version of “The X Factor.”

Alanis Morissette presented herself and sang “You Oughta Know” with Crystal Bowersox. That was awesome and showed yet again the talent that Crystal has.

Alice Cooper sang “Schools Out” with the top 12 that was very cool. Well school is out for our seniors, and the training (school) for those contestants is done on this show too, so maybe that was just to pass a reminder along to them.

Janet Jackson came out and took the “family rating” up a few notches with her outfit and performance, but all past and future contestants could learn a TON from her!

William Hung and Larry Platt performed / rapped together with a few other dancers for the hit song “Pants On The Ground” and their pants actually did hit the ground along with my jaw…

This season FINALLY had an OMG moment. Brett Michaels was on the show! Brain issues, hole in his heart and all and totally rocked out with Casey James who looked to be in a whole new meaning of utter happiness and joy.

Well that was the evening of awesome events… in a nut shell, so to speak.

Waiting to find out the line up of events for the Idol Tour, and see who will be replacing Simon Caldwell. Whoever they find – GOOD LUCK, he was pretty raw and rare and will be challenging to find someone as willing to say it like it is.

May 26, 2010:

It comes down to 2 contestants…. Crystal Bowersox & Lee DeWyze

Well!! What did you all think of this week on American Idol? I was quite shocked at some of the changes this week in levels of performance. Here is my breakdown.

Crystal Bowersox – you have to just love the little mommy they now call mommasox. She really pushed for the win, picked some safer choices, but she belted them out and dressed to impress.

Lee DeWyze – while he picked a previously song choice from this season, no less. He was sleepy and too laid back tonight. Maybe he did not sleep the night before from all the excitement, or was he falling back on purpose because he knows he made it and thought Crystal needed the lime-light more, or maybe he knows he can perform some of the time, but not on a consistent basis…

While I support Crystal winning this year! I would say she is going to be the next Tina Turner or Stevie Nicks. She has earned it with performances and emotions and all the changes she has made this season. She has blossomed and I believe she totally deserves this win.

So we will wait until next Tuesday to find out who wins. “Go Crystal!”

May 20, 2010 Good bye Casey James.

Well, I guess my prediction was right on the money, Casey is done on the show. Off to get ready for the tour and his own record deals with no doubt. So what is the theme of next week’s American Idol show? Who is going to win it??? Crystal Bowersox or Lee DeWyze?

See you next week to find out. Post your comments and American Idol blogs here too.

May 19, 2010 American Idol – Casey, Crystal & Lee

All 3 of the finalists had to sing 2 songs for the evening. One was their own choice, and the other was picked by the judges for them. Did we have a OMG night?

Well, let’s start with Casey James – singing 1st is always a disadvantage, and sets the bar for the other contestants. Maybe given this spot due to him being in the bottom 3 on previous nights? I’m not sure, but, I don’t think he set the bar very high either. His songs were good but not GOOD or even great. Definitely not OMG status, either. Then the he sang the song “Daughters” by John Mayer; given to him by the judges. Well, I guess they knew what they were doing to not allow him to really WOW us. If Casey stays, I think it will only be because of the amount of women out there that find him so good looking. NOT due to his talents.

Next was Crystal Bowersox and her choice was as safe as she could find, singing “Come to my Window” by Melissa Etheridge. I will give her the credit on the performance of it; she has probably sung that song over a 100 times, being it is by her own idol. Her next song was picked by the judges, and Ellen came to the rescue giving her “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney. While all season they were to take an older song and make it more current, this one forced Crystal to use vocals that she has not done thus far of the season. Giving her a whole new level, she was not even aware she had, of artistic ability. I will give her WOW on that performance but I expected it from her too.

Last but not the least was Lee DeWyze who took an old song from Lynyrd Skynyrd, “Simple Man” and made it his own. I knew he was a front runner after that choice. Then the judges gave him “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. While he did a great job with it, it is soooooo over used on this show. Seriously? Not a fan of the song, but he sure rocked it out. Then the judges raved so much over his performances and I’m sure Kara was thinking she was a teen groupie with all her screaming and praising him.

Ok, so who will stay and who will go? My bet is on Casey going home, though I am sure he has a record deal just waiting for him to be done anyways, and I will probably buy it. Crystal is not the front runner she has been all season anymore, so I hope she steps it up a TON if she wants to win this. Lee, I think you may have stayed out of the bottom choices all season. And if to ever put a judge in eliminations – can it be Kara? Just my opinion. Find out Wednesday who goes home.

American Idol Elminations on May 12th, 2010

Down to the last 4 contestants of this season we have Michael, Crystal, Lee, and Casey. Who will go home?

Casey was the first to be told he was safe… Then Crystal and Lee were saved but not until after the shock of thinking Lee was going home… yes home to Chicago soon, but not before the season is done.

So we said goodbye to Michael, while some say he should have went home long ago, I do hope to see him traveling for his music, and making some good money for himself and his daughter.

Next week we have the top 3 left. Who will do it? Who will get to stay to the top 2 and then #1 2010 American Idol?

My guess: next week Lee will go home, then Casey, and Crystal will win it… Just my thoughts, please share yours.

May 6, 2010: Lady Gaga performed for us all…..

American Idol had the lowest viewer rate in years… 8 of them to be exact. It appears “Dancing with the Stars” is taking over viewers. I think that this is just the rippling effect of not having enough good talent this year and maybe some of the music choices. The judges keep saying they want the music to sound current, but then give them music from so long ago; most of the contestants were probably not even born yet.

So what all happened on Elimination night? OMGoodness happened…

This week America decided to take the 2 best performances on Tuesday night and put them both in the bottom. Aaron Kelly and Michael Lynche stood with Ryan in probably total shock. I guess I was wrong again in thinking that eliminations were on worst performances.

I have said and thought for weeks that Aaron was not American Idol material. May it be, he is too young, too shy, not experienced enough or whatever, I knew he would not make it to the number 1 spot. Sad? Yes, but true… There is other talent on the show that is stronger. But he by far should have been safe on this episode, and not several before. Maybe all his mediocre performances just caught up to him and America said enough is enough… Ok, I’m good with that. Give the kid a few years and I am sure he will do amazing things with his voice for his future. This show just was not it.

Then, I see Michael Lynche in the bottom? What????? He was amazing and has been throughout the show… He is likable, has an amazing voice… This is getting out of control with predictions being wrong. I am thankful he was not eliminated.

So we are down to Lee, Casey, Crystal and Michael. Any guesses before the show who will be eliminated? As much as it pains me to say, I am guessing it will be Casey or Michael. Final prediction of who takes it to the top? My guess is Crystal.

Now, if you did not watch the show, Lady Gaga performed her “Alejandro.” If you know anything about Lady Gaga, know that she is NOT what I nor most others would consider “Family Viewable.” This show was no exception. So, please tell me how we go from Frank Sinatra to Lady Gaga, in the same week??? I am so far beyond confused. I have to say, I am very thankful that my kids were not up last night watching this show. Don’t get me wrong, I think her music is great! But I don’t think her parading around on stage on a “family show” in a thong and fishnets is anything I want my “family” to watch.

May 5, 2010: Sinatra Night on American Idol ~ what did you think?

As many times as the judges have complained about the contestants being too old fashioned, how much more old fashion can you get, than Frank Sinatra…?

Aaron Kelly had some great reviews from the judges last night. I think this style is more up his alley than the previous nights, not all of them, but most.

Casey James put his guitar down, and did not look to happy about it. While he does a great job with his voice he has proven that his guitar is melded to his ability of great performances.

Crystal Bowersox seemed to struggle with her Sinatra song “Summer Wind,” and the judges were not overly impressed either. She is the last girl, of the season, and really needs to take over on her next performance to stay in the game.

Michael Lynche on the other hand was all about it last night. He rocked it out as I expected. All dressed up and ready to win. The judges loved it, too. I don’t think we will be seeing him in the bottom 3 this week. Whew!

Lee DeWyze brought his song to a more current level and the judges as well as myself really liked it! I am pretty sure he will be around next week too!

So who will leave us this week? Who will be in the bottom 3? My guess is Aaron, and Casey will down there for sure… But I cant quite put my finger on the 3rd choice… What do you think?

May 4th, 2010
Dont forget to tune in watch another night of talent on American Idol… post your comments during and after the show here.

April 29, 2010 Elimination night results:

With Michael Lynche, Siobhan Magnus and Casey James all in the bottom 3 it was pretty scary tonight. What better way to have a suspense filled night, than to have a vampire video…

This week American eliminated the screaming, screeching Siobhan Magnus. I am sure she will do something great and make a music deal or two down the road, some people will love it, and others will not. Just personal preferences, I guess.

So next week gets us even closer to finding our new American Idol. Come on Crystal Bowersox, I’m counting on you! :0)

Till then, be safe.

April 28th, 2010 Shania Night on American Idol

So last night was mentored by Shania Twain and the contestants sang her songs… Ok, well most of them did a good job…

Let’s start with Lee Dewyze, I thought he would rock it out but he actually struggled at the beginning which kinda threw it all off a bit. The judges were pretty laid back about his faltering, so I guess it will be up to American to decide what happens with him.

Michael Lynche belted out “It Only Hurts When I’m Breathing” and it was awesome! Yes, I am a Big Mike fan. He put his emotions and heart into it and brought it home for me. Thanks Mike!

Casey James seems to be adored on this show with his long hair and laid back styles. Maybe finding the bottom 3 really hit home with him because this performance was totally amazing and is sure to keep him out of the bottom 3 this week…

Crystal Bowersox had her boyfriend in the audience and dedicated this performance to him. She did a good job, not as good as some other ones, but everyone has an off night, right? After being told to be more cheery and happy, she smiled while singing… Does that count? What will America say about Crystal?

Aaron Kelly has been on a downward spin the past few performances, but this one…. Well let’s just say he wowed a ton of people. It has taken him a long time to come around, but he sure did on this song. Is it too late for Aaron?

Siobhan Magnus sang a song full of attitude which fits her personality so well! Simon was not impressed with it, but he is never all that happy. I think Siobhan finally found her way back to her love of music, but it may be too late for that now… let’s see tonight.

So who will go home? I think that while Aaron did a great job, it was a little to late, and that he should be going home, he has had weeks of getting lucky because someone else was voted off (in the wrong order of eliminations, in my opinion), Lee had one bad night, but will that really knock him down? Siobhan- well she is crazy and wild, but is she really American “IDOL” material?? Michael Lynche, he has been in the bottom 3 already and he did not get raves from everyone so I worry about him too. Crystal – well she will be the next American Idol so she is fine, and the final 2 will probably be Crystal and either Lee or Casey, though I would like to see Crystal and Mike tie all the way to the end :D

April 22, 2010

With Casey James, Aaron Kelly and Tim Urban in the bottom 3 on the show, it was a short lived suspense as Ryan saved Aaron and Casey, leaving Tim last one standing. So, we said Good-bye to Tim Urban on the show last night. Yes he is talented, but just not experienced enough for the job as our new “American Idol.” Though he was full of laughs and smiles as they aired his history on the show.

As most know, this week show was “Idol Gives Back,” and there was a lot of support from celebrities with gifts, videos and live performances on the show. Reports say “American Idol” raised over $15 million for their “Idol Gives Back.” That is an awesome give back!

Yahoo News has more for you HERE

April 21, 2010 update:

This week we watched the Final 7 contestants try to win us over on American Idol.

Casey James: Back to singing old school songs with Fleetwood Mac, this week. Casey did an ok job, but he is definitely more comfortable in performing older classics lately. The judges were not so positive about his performance or song choice either. Ouch…

Lee Dewyze: He put his own spin on “The Boxer” and made it great! Impressing not only me (part of America) but the judges as well. Simon said it best: “You made that song sound like it was written a week ago.”

Tim Urban: It looks like Tim has found his comfort zone, and he is not coming out of it. He did a good job, but I’m not so sure it was enough to be considered our next American Idol. I also, don’t think it was so bad he will go home just yet either. Guess we will see if American was happier with his performance than the judges were.

Aaron Kelly: I’m not really sure what to say about his performance, it was ok?, but I won’t listen to “I believe I can Fly” again the same. While some judges were impressed others seemed not so impressed, and Simon, well he has had the best comments of the night in a long time. Simon said it perfect, “In the real world, if I heard that on the radio I would have turned it off within 10 seconds.” Another Ouch of the night.

Siobhan Magnus: Singing “When you Believe” in an outfit that should have been in some nature play. Her vocals were good, but I do wonder is she so busy trying to impress the judges, that she is not setting her own bar to be broken every week? She is an amazing and intriguing chick. One of my favorite things about her is that she always keeps you guessing. But I just hope she can pull it off to make it thru a few more weeks.

Michael Lynche: He put his own spin on “Hero” and did a really good job. Not a whole lot to say there was nothing amazing about the performance, but I am sure he is safe this week… Randy had the best quote, “You held your own with it.”

We ended the night with Crystal Bowersox: WOW, she is just amazing. With her song, and then when she saw her father at the show, she teared up and cried. Great way to end the night. She is just fabulous! She seems to be Alicia’s favorite, the judges love her, I, for one hope she brings it home at the end of the season and takes the GOLD! GREAT JOB CRYSTAL!

So, who will be going home?

Well my prediction says Aaron will be the one ‘Flying’ home this week. He has faltered for too long, and maybe with some more experience, he will do better on another season. But the talent is too thick this season for his amateur skills. Sorry Aaron… The other 2 in the bottom 3 this week…. Tim will be there I am sure, he too is good, but good is not gonna win. The 3rd is really hard to guess. Lee has been up and down, but I don’t see him going to the bottom 3 just yet, but then so has Casey on his rare occasion. And Big Mike has his moments of not so Great… But I guess my prediction would have to agree to ‘Parker’ on Siobhan. She really is slipping and it will be sad, but she seems to have lost her way. Well that is just my opinion… What is yours?

April 15, 2010

Well for anyone who watched and has watched any of this season, on last nights episode of American Idol we said good bye to Andrew Garcia. I, and several others I know have yet to figure out he made it so far in the show, but now he can do his own thing, and maybe put a CD worth listening to. I do believe some artists have their own way, and that is the only way of singing they should stick to. There was a reason he was picked to be on the show, he needs to find that ability and go with it. Good luck to you Andrew!

Ryan was a bit insane this week and then telling Michael Lynche he was in the bottom 3 again, only to say it was a joke… NOT funny. Poor Mike. At least he has a big heart and did not get upset. (I sure would have been angry).

We did say good bye to Katie as well. She had some tears, but left gracefully. I, again, believe she will probably get a CD deal going soon, and with all the tools and voice enhancements there are out there, she will do just fine. (Not that I am saying she can’t sing, but some hel with it would be a great benefit for her).

So next week: I have not heard what the theme is, maybe I missed it or it has not been posted yet, but lets hope for something AMAZING!!! This is supposed to be best nights of the show, and this whole season has been a flop minus a few rare occassions.

See you back here next week for more.

April 14, 2010:

This week on American Idol the theme was Elvis Presley. And to mentor the contestants was Adam Lambert. I was hoping it would be a true wake up call for all contestants, but as you may or may not have watched, it did not work for some. Recaps:

Crystal Bowersox: Choosing an electric guitar to put her own spin on “Saved”, she as always did a Great job! She really knows what this is all about and has yet to falter.

Andrew Garcia: Sang “Hound Dog” and again gave his own typical sleeper performance and almost made me have to turn the channel. Most of the judges said it perfectly with “not good”, “boring.” Ouch, but oh so true. Let’s see if this week is HIS turn to say Good-bye.

Tim Urban: Sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and gave another Good performance, is he coming around? Sure looks like it, and the judges liked it as well. So I am sure, even though he has had several disappointing performances, will be safe this week. Go Tim.

Lee Dewyze: Picked “A Little Less Conversation” and it was OK in my own opinion, but he sure got told about himself from Adam this week. Boy – that Adam sure does speak his mind, though I am glad for that and it has been much needed. The judges liked it, and so I am sure he too will be safe.

Aaron Kelly: Tried to sing “Blue Suede Shoes,” but outside of Trying was very immaturely done. But to give him credit he is very young and inexperienced. I too, have to agree with Simon as Aaron is Not Elvis nor should he do that again. All part of the show.

Siobhan Magnus: It was great to see her and Adam meet, as they seem to be one in the same as far as enjoying being ‘different’. Her performance started shaky (for her) and ended in her BIG voice again, in which needed to come back, just not sure about the way she did it on the show this week.

Michael Lynche: Well I am so very glad they saved him last week, so we could witness this weeks performance. He gave a “WOW” performance and my personal favorite. Even the judges loved it, and Ellen too was glad for the save. GO Michael!

Katie Stevens: She has had shaky past on the show, and finally came out of her shell and gave a Great performance. Thought Simon (good ole’ Simon) did not care for it, maybe he was just hoping by trying to make her a bit angry she would put that into her performance next week as well. Good job Katie!

Casey James: Well, he did not hold a candle to his performance last week, but he did OK. He set his bar really high last week, and is going to have to do some major performances to top it.

Well this week we say good bye to two contestants. Who do you think it will be? My guess will be #1 Andrew. Sorry but he is NOT American Idol material. The #2 is a bit more difficult to guess. I would have to lean towards Tim or Aaron. Just my guess. We will see what American decides on Fox tonite.

April 8, 2010

Well, I officially cannot believe what happened on Wednesday’s show. Big Mike was a lower ranking that Andrew? NOT! What is going on? See just when I thought, maybe I would enjoy some of this season…they go and ruin it. Thank the lucky stars the judges had enough sense to save him. Was that for ratings? Cause’ really it was not nice. I personally was looking forward to Andrew going home, so not to have to listen to him TRY to perform again… But that is not the case at all. So MUCH LOVE TO BIG MIKE! Glad he is going to be here next week. Now they have to get rid of 2 next week. I don’t even know what to think about this anymore.

Do I dare watch next week? The next big shocker might be Crystal in the bottom 3 and then I would be ill for sure. Well, I won’t be worrying about breaking a nail this week…. I bit them all off last night watching.

Then – OK, Really? Rhianna (while she is a good singer/performer) but I thought this week was Lennon/McCartney week… What was she doing on here? Not a good fit, maybe she should have been on last weeks R&B/Soul stuff. And that outfit? Where those supposed to be a mock of dark angel wings or the new blondes shoulder pads for all the “I don’t knows” of American Idol? Would have really fit in better last week.

To top it off – Dancing with the Stars beat American Idol with the number of viewers this week. See those people knew something was up. So what will next weeks theme be? I say call it “Give it all you got!” Then each contestant can get up there, do their favorites and blow our minds with it, and we will see who is really worth keeping. I know my vote will be for Big Mike, Crystal, Casey, Lee and Jason for sure and maybe a few others. Hopefully we won’t have any heart-stopping mishaps next week. Till then………

April 7, 2010

On the Lennon/McCartney Night, things were definitely different, but I really think BORING would be my way to describe it. The outfits were crazier, and the music was old. These contestants aren’t bringing anything to the table that is AMAZING like some of our contestants in the past, but they are “good”. So let’s see how everyone did…

Aaron Kelly – I now believe his days are numbered as Kara warned them to be if he does not step it up. He is a good singer, but not a GREAT one. Maybe because he is so young, but this performance was long and drug out to boredom-ville.

Katie Stevens – picked a song that has been performed several times on this show, but the judges say they liked it. She has been in the bottom the last few weeks, so maybe this will help her. I’m not sure she will be going home this week, but at least she is stepping it a bit. I thought it was OK, bet than she had been doing, but I am still looking for that AMAZING performance, maybe my standards are too high…

Andrew Garcia – he is really (in my opinion) killing some good songs. He thought he was ‘coming back’ last week with his Chris Brown song (in which I no longer care for – thank you Andrew), and this week. WOW – not impressive. Between the judge’s comments of “corny & old-fashioned” are happening a LOT, I think the next ‘comment to Andrew’ should be Good-bye.

Michael Lynche – one of my personal favorites – did a great job as always! He is always a joy to listen to and I look forward to hearing him again next week. GOOD JOB Michael!

Crystal Bowersox – she actually smiled while performing… Is that because she knows she will be in the very end of the show? Maybe but she really looked like she was enjoying herself tonight and with the help of the didjeridoo player, her song rocked it out. GOOD JOB Crystal. Yes, she is another one of my favorites.

Tim Urban – while he picked a song he knew he would be safe with and will get him to next week, he did a good job on it too. One of his better performances if you ask me… Let’s see if he can do this 2 weeks in a row, because, lets face it on this show, you can go all the way to the end on just your looks.

Casey James – Definitely hit “Rock Star” status this week. He had the hair, the jacket, the guitar and most importantly THE VOICE! GREAT JOB Casey… I think he is finally really gonna give Crystal and Mike a run for their money, glad I got to see that performance.

Siobhan Magnus – hmmm not sure what was up with the outfit, except that she likes to be different. The song was so soft and BORING… The judges liked the switch from her, maybe because all of the screaming she has done in the past. Don’t get me wrong, she has an amazing voice, but she has yet to fully WOW me. I was ready for sleep after that performance.

Lee Dewyze – are you losing your voice dude? That was so bad, I watched just the first part of the performance, as he cracked his voice and really made the song a ear sore, I just could not take it anymore. The bagpipe was a joke right? NOT a good performance by my opinion at all! Sorry Lee, but I don’t think it will put you in the bottom 3 just yet.

So, who will go home this week? I vote for Andrew, and this would be the only thing I could vote him for. I know, kinda harsh, but REALLY? Why is he still here? (My opinion again) Andrew should have been gone a long time ago.

April 6, 2010
American Idol ~ question of the day…
Is it really in the interest of American Idol and all the families watching for Ellen Degeneres to promote drinking, just for her using one specific word or phrase? Is that really such a good promotion? What are your thoughts?
Watch this week, to see what else is promoted….

Update April 1, 2010

Too many tears! Didi says goodbye, thru tons of tears… She really was not cutting it though, so that was to be expected. Siobhan was nervous and shed some tears of relief that she was not cut. I did not see her going this week anyways.

Drama with Ryan and Simon again, those two should keep some distance for the remander of the season. Family show, should not have that much going on with the staff of the show.

Got to see some performance from “stars” some liked them, some did not. Is there really going to be much good to say about American Idol?

What are your thoughts on them doing another season? With they have any fans left after this year of disaster?

March 31, 2010 update:
R&B / Soul Week on American Idol

Usher Raymond IV was born, October 14, 1978, in Dallas, Texas, but grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was his mother that raised him, and he is a not only a great artist, but a great person. Having Usher on American Idol was a great idea, because he can really set a good example for these contestants. You don’t have to be a ‘radical’ to succeed.

So now, let’s see how the contestants did with advice from Usher…

Siobhan Magnus – we all know she has a big voice and can give a big performance, but last night, she did not do such a ‘Big” job as we all had hoped for from her. Though, Usher thought she was doing great in their time together, decided to try to give her some fashion advice, and then …. She slipped. Though I doubt that was a big enough fall for her to be bumped off the show just yet, we will see on Wednesday.

Casey James – he was really “On” last night. With his (as Usher called it) “Swag” showing in full effect, he gave a great performance. Both Simon and Randy raved about it and were very happy with it, the girls were less enthusiastic and expected more. (Let’s face it, girls always want more) I am sure he will be just fine on Wednesday night. At least this week he will be.

Michael Lynche – “Big Mike” brought a “Big” performance for us last night. He is gifted, and so likeable, that he will go far in life, and on this show. While the judges really liked his performance, they still think he may be old fashioned. Maybe that is what American needs from its new American Idol. So we will be seeing Michael again next week, I am sure.

Didi Benami – I am pretty sure everyone knew she was going to have issues with Soul Night, but when she should be giving and receiving WOW’s; the ones last night were not good. Crying before the show, picking an “emotional” choice for her song, and THEN not being able to perform it well or even a little bit good. My opinion – she is one of the reasons this show is in trouble this year, choosing her for a contestant and a front runner, was NOT a good choice for American Idol. But I’m not the judge, so what did they think? Randy said she “flat-lined”; Kara said “You’ve changed” & “You’ve lost your way”; Simon said it was “like swimming in jelly” & “so old-fashioned, so off-melody.” I can see her saying goodbye on Wednesday, but we will see, we still have more contestants, and by this point of the show, I had everything I could do to not turn the channel, thankfully Crystal, Katie, Aaron and Lee, Tim and Andrew still had something to show me and everyone else.

Tim Urban – It is really a good thing he likes to laugh so much, because this song was NOT his best, and he will need to be in good spirits if it just put him in the bottom 3. While, the teen girls just love him. And would probably still buy his CD’s, he is just not proving to be American Idol material. Sorry, Tim, this was not (in my opinion & some of the judges) a good enough performance for this stage of the game / show.

Andrew Garcia – he took a Chris Brown song “Forever” and killed it. Though Usher said it made him love the song more, and Randy thinks “Andrew is Back!.” Kara says he is heading the right direction. It was Simon (gotta love the truth of Simon) told Andrew, “Don’t take this the wrong way, but you come over as very boring.” And I agree. Not really sure what Ryan was doing bringing Andrew’s mom on stage, but seriously, this about the contestants and being a part of the top 10 your family cant save you.

Katie Stevens – while her song choice set the bar above anyone’s head, her voice sure did carry thru and she did great. Randy liked it comparing her Christina Aguilera, and good ole Simon thought he was nuts for it. And then our non-music associated judge comes up with a comparison of Katie’s hair to that of “Jersey Shore” starlet Snooki’s. Katie, I am sure, will be here next week.

Lee Dewyze – he was given great advice from Usher, (”You have an incredible voice–just own it!”)
And he did. Lee has always had an amazing voice on the show, but his lack of personality is what has kept him out of the lime-light. He is there, we all know he is good, but he needs to show us that he is Great! And that is only going to come when he puts all of himself into the performance.

Crystal Bowersox –she is so very talented. Advice from Usher was to ditch the guitar and use the piano instead. What Great advice! She did and brought that voice that we all love so very much. But, to my amazement and I am sure others, she came out in Stilettos… That was my Oh My Gosh moment of the night. Randy loved it, he is currently working with Gladys Knight, and told Crystal she did Gladys proud, and Ellen telling her, “You really are competing now! You’re in it to win it!” And Simon gave some confusion with his statement; “what you were doing before was absolutely fantastic. I had no issues with you before.” Simon can relax; Crystal is NOT going anywhere but to the top.

Aaron Kelly – ended the show with for us with his performance of Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine.” My question for Aaron would be, When Usher told you to really bring it and change it up to show you were feeling the song (in so many words), why didn’t you? He is a great singer, but soul, is NOT his forte’ at all. Though, I am sure he will be just fine, at least this week.

So who is leaving? Who is the bottom 3? I have my opinion and that is:

We will have a very dramatic good bye from Didi, but before we do; Andrew and Tim will be made to sweat (well for Tim- Smile). Stay tuned for the results.

March 25, 2010
On last nights show (for those of you who don’t already know) we had Paige, Tim and Katie in the bottom three (3). And ……………. We say GoodBye to Paige Miles… and the judges did not even allow her to try ‘save’ herself and do a ‘sing for your life.’

We did hear the contestants sing “Wake me up before you go,” as well as Miley Cyrus, Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato all sang for us on what was not supposed to be Tween Week but was very clearly a better name for it.

Our Top 10 are : Michael, Siobhan, Crystal, Aaron, Casey, Andrew, Didi, Katie, Lee, and Tim. Let’s hope Usher can help them on R&B / Soul Night, next week.

March 24, 2010 updates:
Ok, so I was a bit optimistic and hopefully and doubtful all at the same time when I found out Miley Cyrus was going to be the American Idol “Mentor.” Now after last nights show, I am glad she did it. It was a great learning tool for her to hopefully take advice better in the future (if she doesn’t already).

Lee Dewyze – being told to boost up his stage performance and try to not be so stage-boring. The judges for the most part liked it

Paige Miles – the advice she was given may have been good, but the performance NOT so good. Will we be saying goodbye to her? I guess we will find out on Wednesdays show

Tim Urban – the knee slide? Seriously? WOW not a good choice at all! But it took away (for a brief second) the attention to the Bad performance he gave… Another wonder – will he say goodbye on Wednesday? This will be close, I think.

Aaron Kelly – great choice of a song, and maybe trying to show off a bit for his crush – Miley. But I don’t see him going home anytime soon. Even Ryan liked it.

Crystal Bowersox – she really WOWed us all with her awesome performance. Guess Miley gave great advice to her and she should not be going home either. Yeah!

Michael Lynche – “Big Mike” hit it off with Miley quite well right away. He may have decided to pick a “safe” song for the night, but he has the crowd and fans really like him too. (I sure do) We will get to see Mike again next week.

Andrew Garcia – ok so the advice given to him was a bad, really bad choice. He once had a great moment, but that may be the only we are going to see from him. I would put him in the bottom 3 for sure.

Katie Stevens – stepped up her looks, while I am sure that is greatly due to her meeting Miley. She did a great job, change is definitely a good thing for her. See you next week Katie.

Casey James – Ok, so … Huey Lewis song? NOT a good choice, and for the tweens that like him, I’m not so sure they liked that at all. WOW… Not a good choice, but I don’t see him going home just yet for one bad decision.

Didi Benami – making the change for this song, was another NOT good choice. Too much difference in herself and the role she made an attempt at being for this performance. Another addition to the bottom 3 making it 4? Guess we will see…

Siobhan Magnus – received a great compliment from Miley about being ‘different’. And she did a GREAT job singing. I can see her here for a few plus weeks yet.

Another night of performances done, now its judgment time. Who is leaving? Who is staying? Find out on Fox Wednesday night.

March 23, 2010
We all know this season of American Idol is less than anyone ever hoped for; but now a new twist is to happen this week…

Miley Cyrus is coming to help the contestants. Miley is not only young, but has limited range in vocals due to being blessed with having to only sing her “type” of music. Can she help these contestants or is this a publicity stunt to try to get the Teen-Generation to watch to boost the numbers? Some may like Miley and some may not but let’s face it. She has a bunch of CD’s top singing coaches, and now movies while still being aired for her Hannah / Miley show. So for those who judge her, do you have the same? No one is perfect, but at least she is still out there doing what she loves to do. Tonight we will see if she has what it takes to be able to help these contestants who, at the current, seem to be just here. Guess we will find out tonite.

Wednesday make sure to stay tuned to see Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas perform on American Idol. Ok, so this week is teen week, maybe it will inspired the contestants to want to do “Better” than they have been and step up to the plate and show us “WHY” they were chosen for this show.

Rumors have it Usher will be on the show as well next week? Did I read this right? Is this to help them sing or get off the stools? That will be something to watch.

At least Fox is finally giving us something worth watching…

March 18, 2010 update:
Sometimes being 1st is not such a good thing, and our first to go learned that lesson last night… So we say goodbye to Lacey Brown… Did she deserve to go? That is your own opinion. Fun night with the “other” performers, and outfits to talk about for a while.

Have not heard what will the remaining 11 contestants will be singing next week, but lets hope for something they can perform and make it worth watching. Till then…..

March 16 update:
So now we get 2 hours of American Idol. Tuesday all of the top 12 sang and on Wednesday will have eliminations. Let’s see if Ryan can stay out of Simon’s face. Simon actually looked a bit scared. Guess with all his talk and negativity, maybe he can’t back it up but to say I am the judge…

Live artists coming tomorrow night. Wednesday, March 17 at 9ESTon FOX. Make sure to watch Ke$ha sing her new single “Blah Blah Blah,” and then watch Orianthi sing her song “According to You”.

Stay tuned to see who is elminated…

March 12 update:
I guess we knew there were going to be eliminations, but we had some shockers too. Two guys and girls had to be eliminated. Can you believe who they were? For those of you that missed it…

I will start with the guys elimations for you. Last night we said goodbye to Alex Lambert, and then had to watch him perform all choked up and to top it off there were some audio issues to make it even worse. Todrick Hall was the other male elimination. With his personal history and rocky performances, I guess American just wanted a better idol.

Now to let you know which girls had to go. Lilly Scott, as cute as she was, she just did not stand up to the standards of American Idol’s standards. Sad to see her go, but I am sure she will do something beyond the show. And finally, we say goodbye to Katelyn Epperly. Lots of tears, but we will see what next week brings.

Can anyone be excited about who stayed? I hope so, but next week the final contestants will be performing Rolling Stones songs. Anyone have opinions on who will ruin the first rock legend songs? All we can do now is hope for something good to happen, or there may not be anyone who will watch yet another searson of American Idol. Be back next week to keep you tuned in, for those of you who don’t watch but want the skinny.

March 11, 2010 update:
Ok, so we had a night worth talking about FINALLY! We had hugs and tears. How incredible is that? Just when I was about to give up completely on this show. The guys are here to save the day. Great job guys!

Lee Dewyze sang his own version of “Fireflies.” Not really sure where he got the idea to make so many changes to this song, but I would not rave too much about it, as the judges were not overly impressed either. Lee has some great talent, and while he is trying different things, lets hope this choice does not affect his placement in the top 12.

Alex Lambert sang a great choice for him, “Trouble.” The trouble is he is very stiff on stage and has to find his comfort zone. Maybe if he got rid of the mullet, it would help? And if he makes the top 12, compliments of Simon (if he gets his way) your going to witness Randy in a 2 piece…. hmmmm

Tim Urban chose a song that describes his ability to find his talent: “Hallelujah.” It even made Ellen give him a hug. While this songs seems to be used alot, it was needed by him for him to hopefully avoid eliminations. I really thought he was going to be eliminated before, but now he just might make the top 12. Good job Tim.

Andrew Garcia seems to find his best abilities in singing the songs of female artists, though this week he chose “Genie in a Bottle” and by the end we all wished we had one of those to make him great again. The judges let him know he is struggling so to speak and I am sure he already knows this. Poor guy, I hate to admit but he will probably hit the bottom 2 very soon.

Casey James sang “You’ll Think of Me” sitting on a stool with his guitar. It was a good performance if you like to watch someone sit around like he is at home bored. At least he did not hurt my hears, and he is still gonna be safe in the top 12 with all the female voters. Now, lets just get him to put some edge in his performance and really nail it next week.

Aaron Kelly sang a country song “I’m Already There.” But I think the only place he may already be is on the elimination list or close to it. Poor kid, I had high hopes for him. Maybe I am wrong, well maybe I should be hoping I am wrong. We will see…

Todrick Hall sang “Somebody to Love,” since I am not a Queen’s fan I was nervous and my hands were close to my ears, but he switched it up and made it not so bad to listen to. The judges were all over the board with comments, but at least they did not really slam him this week.

We have an OMG contestant: Michael Lynche sang “This womans work” by Maxwell (a powerful song and one of my favorites). He even brought tears to Kara and sent her briefly into Simon’s arms of comfort. Bring it again Michael! Now that he knows he can wow American and the judges, lets hope he does it more often.

March 10, 2010 updates:
So another, overall, boring night of American Idol. I just can’t get over the lack of GREAT talent this year. Don’t get me wrong, there is potential here, and records will be made and deals cut, but this is, in NO way, a comparable season to those in the past.

With this week being of the most important, the girls should have been singing with everything they had. Making a “mark” for themselves against all competition…

Katie Stevens sang “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson. While she is a so-called Front Runner in the competition, her voice was lacking and dull in my opinion. Not what I expected from her at all.

Siobhan Magnus sang “House of the Rising Sun”. She nailed it as best as she could and gave something worth listening to. But could she have done better? Maybe, but I have hope that next week she will pick a song that really shows her talents.

Lacey Brown sang “The Story.” She stepped it up for herself but was that enough? She picked a late time in the show to do so. Let’s hope she can hang in there and really nail the rest of the show and prove herself.

Katelyn Epperly sang “I Feel the Earth Move”. While she did a pretty good job with Coldplay’s song and the Beatle number, this one did not work so well for her. Really sad how these girls are going downhill in a spiral they may not be able to slow enough to hang on.

Didi Benami sang “Rhiannon”. It was Good. But Great? I don’t think so. She seems to be the one the judges like to give a really hard time, but maybe that is what she needs. Time will tell.

Paige Miles sang “Smile”. Now one would think you should be smiling when singing this song, but she did not, and almost sounded like she might cry, her nerves must have just been too much, and it showed.

Crystal Bowersox sang “Give Me One Reason.” With the guitar and her voice, it was probably the best performance of the night for my ears and eyes. Almost having lost her spot on the show due to her health, I am glad she pulled thru and is still on the show, gives me something to look forward to.

Lilly Scott sang “I fall to pieces” and well I have to admit she did a great performance. And she is funky and cute, which only helps her.

I’m pretty sure Lilly and Crystal will be safe on elimination night, but the other girls… Not so sure. Thursday is bound to bring many tears. Now let’s hope the boys can make this show worth spending another 60 minutes watching on Wednesday. Thursday will be our mark and I hate to admit I am getting to a countdown of when this season will be over.

March 9, 2010
Who do you think is going to finally WOW America tonite? Are you going to tune in and watch? Will we have the girls or the guys tonite? Share your thoughts, bring your favorites and tell us.

March 5, 2010 Update:
This week had a great guest appearance from last season’s Danny Gokey. He recently had his debut album, My Best Days Are Ahead of Me, and will be touring with Sugarland, he is doing great and will continue to do so. He is a great example for those who do not make it on American Idol, that does not have to be the end.

We had to say goodbye to some singers this week, it is really getting down to the, ‘Who is Who’ of singing. Haeley Vaughn still needs time to work on her voice, but as she was told another year… Let’s hope that is all it takes. Michelle Delamor, while she did what she was told by switching up and coming out of her comfort zone and singing her version of Creed’s Arms Wide Open, it was not enough for America. So we say goodbye to her as well.

As for the guys, John Park says goodbye to American Idol, and the judges, even though he did a good job, it is great that is needed to stay and win. We also say goodbye to Jermaine Sellers. Yes, he was getting into his own groove and way of doing things, he just did not make the cut.

It is getting closer and closer to the final days of our season. Who will be next? Will we have to endure anymore lip syncing? (I hope not) Share your thoughts, favorite moments and performances…

March 4, 2010 update:
Crystal Bowersox changed this weeks link up for show nights due to her “medical emergency”. While her appearance was not bright and cheery, her voice was right on. Never before has the show changed up for a contestant; is this because she is the hopeful front runner of the season? What are your thoughts? Rumors say she had a police escort in an ambulance just to perform. (not sure if that is true ) Tax dollars good at work or wasted money and time? Debates are going wild.

Who will be this seasons American Idol? Must say this is the strangest season yet.

March 2, 2010:
Check out American Idol tonite on Fox TV. Keep up to date and post your thoughts and comments about the show here. Keeping it real and really fun.

March 1, 2010:
Do we have any opinions on who will get bumped off this show this week? I am thinking several could get bumped if they don’t put out a ton more effort and talent. This cannot really be the American Idol so many people have come to love… This season is not bringing what everyone expects, and has yet to show any promise of it. Thoughts and opinions? Please share. To those of you who are commenting, you are very much appreciated!

February 26 update:
So they have decided to eliminate 4 contests at the same time. Odd, and definitely not a norm for the show with seasons past. If you missed the show, here are the 4 eliminations:
1. Janell Wheeler
2. Ashley Rodriguez
3. Joe Muñoz
4. Tyler Grady

Thankfully there was some talent on last nights show when Season 8’s Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta showed up to let us know that real talent can be found on American Idol.

Let’s just hope that next week is a better week and we get to see the reasons why these contestants were given the chance to be the next American Idol.

February 25 update:
So Tuesday night the girls did not do what most think to be their best, and then last night (Wednesday) the guys did not come with their best either. Are we running out of talent for this show, or is the fame too much for the contestants? What are your thoughts? Do you have a favorite this year? Share here.

American Idol 2010 Season 9

American Idol 2010 Season 9

February 22, 2010
What are your thoughts about the Olympics getting more views than American Idol?

New week, more singing. American Idol 2010: Let the Voting Begin

Well the season has started. With millions of viewers, this has proven itself to be a very popular show. Several changes have happened and are yet to continue.

2010 welcomes Ellen DeGeneres as the newest Judge, and then will say good bye to Simon Cowell when the season ends.

Wikipedia has a page for American Idol as well.

2010 American Idol
The history of American Idol: American Idol is a reality television competition which finds new solo musical talent. It was created by Simon Fuller and debuted June 11, 2002, as American Idol: The Search for a Superstar on the Fox network. It has since become one of the most popular shows in the history of American television. It is currently the #1 TV show in the Nielsen ratings and is one of only three that have been #1 for five consecutive seasons, along with All in the Family and The Cosby Show.
Part of the Idol franchise, it is a spin-off from the British show Pop Idol, of which two series were broadcast between 2001 and 2003 in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The program aims to discover the best singer in the country through a series of nation-wide auditions which culminates in viewer voting to determine the winner. Through telephone and SMS Text voting, America has chosen past winners Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, and Kris Allen (listed in chronological order). Every American Idol winner except for Jordin Sparks (from Arizona) has been from the American South.[1] The eligible age-range for contestants is currently 16–28 years old. The upper age limit was 24 in the first three seasons.

The series employs a panel of judges who critique the contestants’ performances: Grammy award-winning record producer and music manager Randy Jackson and award-winning music executive and music manager Simon Cowell have been judges for the entire series. Grammy award-winning pop singer and Emmy award-winning choreographer Paula Abdul was a judge for the show’s first eight seasons.[2] The format originally featured three judges, with Latin Grammy Award-nominated singer–songwriter and record producer Kara DioGuardi added as a fourth judge for the eighth season. On September 9, 2009, Emmy award-winning talk show host Ellen DeGeneres was confirmed to be Abdul’s replacement for the ninth season.[3] The show has been renewed for three more seasons.[4] On January 11, 2010 Simon Cowell announced that he was leaving the show to pursue introducing his show The X Factor to the USA for 2011.[5]

Ryan Seacrest has hosted the show for its entire run. During the first season, he was joined by comedian Brian Dunkleman. The American Idol band is currently led by Rickey Minor. Dorian Holley of Los Angeles Music Academy is Music Director and vocal coach [6]; he has been with the show since 2006.

The show usually airs on Tuesday and Wednesday nights in the United States and Canada, Wednesday and Thursday nights in Australia and Asia, Wednesday and Thursday nights on ITV2 in the United Kingdom, Friday nights in Ireland, Friday and Saturday nights in Israel, and Saturday and Sunday nights in Latin America.

Entertainment Weekly put it on its end-of-the-decade, “best-of” list, saying, “It’s given us Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry, and J. Hud. Idol rules the reality roost because the winners of Fox’s ratings juggernaut actually do go on to greatness. And Taylor Hicks? He’s the exception that proves the rule.”[7]

Simon Cowell has admitted that he would like to see the eccentric Lady Gaga act as mentor on the current series of American Idol.

During a press conference today, the music mogul told reporters that the ‘Bad Romance’ singer is the most relevant pop artist around. He said:

“We’ve had some pretty good people, haven’t we? I think we should have Lady Gaga because she is the most relevant pop artist in the world at the moment, so I think she should be No. 1. I’ve met her and she’s very smart, I like her.”

Dark Angel is a great action packed show with great actors. Jessica Alba did an amazing job as Max and the the show should have gone on. It was an amazing show and had a great run. It’s too bad it had end so soon, if the person who declared that he didn’t like Science fiction then why was he helping to write a Science fiction show? I can’t think of a better person who could’ve portrayed Max or any of the characters any better. And reading other peoples comments I honestly don’t understand why they are so fixed on criticizing Jessica Alba so badly. I mean she’s a great actress and the rest of the cast are all great as well. I never noticed any so much mumbling I mean if you can understand them then so what. And the times are obviously real rough and you can’t expect them to be all upbeat and happy all the time. The story was very intriguing and the action was off the chain. Eyes only was a good idea and very cool. It was sad that Logan and Max had such a screwed up relationship. They were such a cute couple.

  16. I still can’t believe that Michael is gone. Always appreciated his energizing music. He really was a star. Thanx for this, made my day remembering him.

  27. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
